Cairngorms National Park - Peatland Restoration Project
I was commissioned to photograph the Cairngorms National Park Authority peatland restoration team at work as part of their 2030 project. Peatlands are one of our most precious and least understood habitats, storing one-third of the world’s soil carbon. That’s twice the carbon of all the world’s forests combined!
This project aims to restore more than 1300 hectares of damaged peatland yearly until 2028, supporting healthier ecosystems, increasing biodiversity and improving habitats. A really enjoyable day working alongside a fantastic team who work so hard to protect Scotland’s landscapes.
WOMEN’S CLIMBING SYMPOSIUM X THE NORTH FACE
This event has been running for 12 years and has attracted some of the biggest names in professional climbing, including the likes of Lynn Hill, Shauna Coxsey, Sasha DiGiulian, Beth Rodden, Hazel Findlay and more. This year I not only got to attend for the first time but was asked to capture the day which was a bit of a dream come true. Since I started climbing I’ve been really keen to extend my experience as a filmmaker and photographer to this space and capture stories focused on women in such a male-dominated field. It’s hard to describe the feeling of being in a room surrounded by such strong, likeminded inspirational women. The sense of community, openness and support for one another was truly special!
Great Bustard Project
In 2019 I headed out to Northern Spain to work alongside the Great Bustard Project and Spanish authorities to document the translocation of eggs from Spain to the UK as part of their project reintroducing the species to the UK. Globally, the Great Bustard is at risk of extinction and there are fewer than 35,000 left in the wild.
